Dr. Rachael Shivak is a proud North Royalton native who’s passionate about giving back to the community she grew up in. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Animal Science from The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!) and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University, with a focus on small animal medicine.
Dr. Shivak’s professional interests include preventative care, nutrition, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. She believes in the importance of proactive, personalized care to help pets live their healthiest lives. She especially enjoys new puppy and kitten exams—and she’s always excited to see your favorite pet photos!
Beyond her work at the hospital, Dr. Shivak serves as a board member for Padua Franciscan High School’s MedTrack program, where she mentors future healthcare professionals and gives insight on how to prepare students who have interest in veterinary medicine. She also spends her time giving back to the community by providing an additional surgery day each week at a nonprofit organization. In this role, she performs spays/neuters for pets in need to decrease overpopulation and end pet homelessness.
Dr. Shivak is just as active outside of work— as a Boston Marathoner, she has qualified for and ran multiple marathons throughout the United States. She loves staying active through running and spending time outdoors. Her goal is to one day complete the six World Marathon Majors. She loves to spend time with friends and family, and feels energized by weekend plans. Additionally, she enjoys all things Cleveland sports. At home, she shares life with her chocolate lab, Maple, her cat, Hazelnut, a spirited, senior rabbit named Russell, and her human named Nate.
Whether she’s in the clinic or out socializing, Dr. Shivak brings energy, compassion, and dedication to everything she does—always working to support the well-being of animals and the people who love them.
